![]() ![]() The Speed Editor is really optimized for working in Multicam as well. This makes rough editing so much faster and precise. One feature I use a lot now that I have speed editor is the “Source Tape” on the cut page - basically puts all the clips in your bin (or selection area) into a long clip with chapter marks you can then scrub and mark in/out points very quickly and dump them on your main timeline. There’s a few of them, I think CreativeTechTips is the one I landed on first and enjoyed. My best advice would be to watch a video where all the functionality of the speed editor is broken down. The single greatest feature of the Speed Editor is its jog wheel, a functionality not replicated by any other hardware solution. I’m with Op in that I rarely used the Cut page before getting the speed editor, and still prefer the edit page even now that I have it. Also, could my resolve workflow above be better? I really want to use the speed editor, but not if its being forced into my workflow. I look for what I need in each instance rather than starting the edit by finding all the useful bits and putting them together - which sort of seems unnecessary, particularly when I've shot it myself. My question is, will the speed editor help in anyway? Does the mulitcam feature help here if I'm cutting big chunks out when the subject is not saying anything important?įrom what ive seen the cut page is good at finding useful bits of footage in all of the source files so its easily available to do a proper edit. Thats basically it - straight forward stuff. Then i find the B-roll, cut bits out that I need and place it in the 3rd video track. I remove the footage from camera A or Camera B in the time line to swap between cameras. ![]() I then cut out all the fluff between the answers and the producer asking the questions so it looks like the subject is speaking for one single period of time without stopping or being prompted. So right up to the present moment i drop the footage from the 2 cameras and the audio then sync using the wave form in the Edit Page. Q:Why do you like the colour red? A: I like the colour red because its my favourite colour. The subject is directed to respond in a full sentence with the question in the sentence. When during the shoot I have a producer asking questions to the subject. B-Roll is then placed over the interview to add context and colour and to mask any difficult transitions. My work is generally talking heads / interviews with two cameras with a separate audio file from a lapel plugged into a zoom recorder. I rarely use the cut page and sometimes I wonder if I should.
